The Kingdom of Ivykeep

The Kingdom of Ivykeep, commonly referred to as Ivykeep or Superfortress, is an archipelago housing roughly six hundred thousand people and ruled over by the King of Ivykeep.

Geography

From an aerial perspective the Kingdom is around 250 square kilometers, but due to the layered nature of its construction the true size is significantly larger. The islands are divided into numerous territories. Each of these is run independently by an administrator, generally someone with direct ties to the Crown. Each territory is assigned a zoning rank which determines how much resources are allotted to the operation of the territory's facilities.

History

Ivykeep was officially founded after post-Genesis floods left a once landlocked mountain fortress surrounded by ocean and separated from other survivors. The mountain's residents, previously surviving through communal cooperation and sharing of goods, adapted to their isolation by forming a primitive market-based social system. This system grew into a thriving economy with many organizations and individuals vying for power and resources. After the Battle of the Three Mages, Ivykeep became fully isolated from any other settlements.

Industry

As populations grew in pre-war times, Ivykeep evolved into a bustling nation. With pressure from the King and Arch-Mage the island's resources and industries were soon near-completely privatized. As these numerous companies developed, the communal nature of the pre-war region dissolved into a mass of poorly regulated corporations and crown subsidiaries. Dismal working conditions and zoning inequality soon lead to civil unrest in the Kingdom, and groups such as The Utopia Project were formed in attempt to topple the system (usually by plotting to dethrone the king or sabotage offending companies).

Aether

The detonation of the trinity device and subsequent ending of the war led to a somewhat significant global increase in Aether strength. While Sprouts make Quintal powers relatively easy to access and exploit on a personal level, There is strict governmental oversight on Aetherial energy generation and severe regulation of technology which has the potential to make such generation feasible. This means that outside of general sorcery, Quintal energy is used primarily in industries such as weaponry and pharmaceuticals.

Ecology

The Kingdom of Ivykeep is incredibly diverse ecologically. The Northwest side of the kingdom is frigid in comparison to the balmy Southeast side, and in the gradient between these two extremes there exists a variety of flora and fauna.
